Ideas that Change Lives offers business support and financial investment to support and encourage organisations and individuals to develop socially enterprising ideas that enable Leeds residents with care and support needs to remain independent. The types of activity we seek to fund include alternatives to traditional day care and support services; brokerage; health and wellbeing promoting activities; employment related opportunities. The programme is run by LCF and SEE Ahead and funded through Leeds City Council Adult Social Care’s “Better Lives” initiative which aims to ensure services help people to live independently.
Applicants can also access practical support to help develop their ideas, on a one-to-one basis and via a workshop/seminar programme.
Projects funded through this programme must benefit residents of Leeds with care and support needs such as:
- Older people
- People with a learning disability; physical disability or sensory impairment
- People with mental health needs
- People with alcohol or substance use issues
- People with long term health conditions
- Young people in transition between services
Guide to setting up social enterprises
A guide was put together in 2015 by a team of graduates working for Leeds City Council, in a project supported by the Leeds Community Foundation. It is intended to assist you in starting, running and potentially expanding your social enterprise. Download Guide.
We are hosting a series of events throughout 2017 to help you develop your social enterprise. A full list of events can be viewed here.
