9 November 2022
The Anchor Connecting Communities Fund is a partnership between Anchor and Leeds Community Foundation, Wiltshire Community Foundation and Heart of Bucks Community Foundation – members of the UK Community Foundations network. The Fund aims to connect local communities and ensure that as many people as possible have access to cooking skills, food education and friendship.
The Fund invested more than £30,000 in 7 Community Organisations in Leeds and Bradford. The organisations that were awarded funding are:
-
-
-
- Play Bradford (Bradford)
- Bradford Organic Communities Services (Bradford)
- Cross Green Growing Together (Leeds)
- Flourishing Families Leeds (Leeds)
- Horton Community Farm Co-op Ltd (Bradford)
- Leep 1 CIC (Leeds)
- Season Well CIC (Leeds)
-
-
The funded activities include:
-
-
-
- A group for people to share and develop skills working on an organic site growing fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs.
- Family Fun Cookery Afternoons, bringing families together for a variety of activities including cooking and eating together.
- Weekly healthy living and cooking groups including shopping and budgeting for a meal, cooking and meal preparation, eating together and finishing the day with a physical activity.
-
-
At a time when communities are struggling to keep up with higher bills and increased cost-of-living, the organisations that have been funded will continue to play a key role in their communities by bringing people together through food.
