Announcing LGBTQIA+ Microgrants

20 June 2024

We’re really pleased to be launching LGBTQIA+ Microgrants, a new fund in partnership with LGBT Consortium.

What is LGBTQIA+ Microgrants?

The LGBTQIA+ Microgrants programme will support LGBTQIA+ -led community groups and organisations in Leeds to build sustainability and resilience. Alongside grant funding, successful applicants will be able to access tailored wraparound support from our partners, LGBT Consortium.

Why are we launching the programme?

At Leeds Community Foundation, we are committed to being an equitable grant maker. We recognise that some communities may face additional barriers when trying to access grant funding, and we recently worked with Hamilton Consult to research the experiences of Leeds-based LGBT+ community organisations. Launching this funding programme, and partnering with LGBT Consortium, are actions we’ve taken as a direct result of this research. You can read the full report, ‘Enabling Leeds-based LGBT+ community organisations to access grant funding’, here.

Who can apply for LGBTQIA+ Microgrants?

The fund is aimed at small and emerging Leeds-based community organisations that may not be able to access other grant programmes. Organisations must have an income under £75,000 in the most recent financial year.

Informal, unconstituted groups will be able to apply for grants up to £500.

Formally constituted organisations will be able to apply for grants up to £1,000.

Applications will be open to organisations with different aims, including trans advocacy, social groups, and activism/support across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.
