Climate Action Leeds Community Microgrants February 2024

11 June 2024

£1,682 has been invested in 2 Community Organisations through the latest round of Climate Action Leeds Community Microgrants.

Climate Action Leeds is a five-year programme funded by The National Lottery Climate Action Fund. The programme aims to shape a ‘zero carbon, nature friendly, socially just Leeds by the 2030s’ through community-led climate action and networks of interest.

In partnership with Together for Peace, we launched Climate Action Leeds Community Grants, offering both small and micro grants to Leeds Community Organisations to deliver neighbourhood-based climate action projects. Projects will explore and develop ways to reduce carbon and promote nature-friendly activity.

The organisations that were awarded funding in the latest round of Microgrants are Far Headingley Village Society and Friends of Trentham Park.

The funded activities are:

        • Holding a Clean Air Day street fair, promoting sustainable transport and clean air through active travel.
        • Hosting regular litter picks to maintain a park and nearby area, and promoting information about recycling.

These groups join 9 others that have been funded through the Microgrants stream of the programme, which has so far engaged almost 500 people in climate and nature friendly activities.
