Climate Action Leeds Community Microgrants Winter 2024

10 April 2024

Climate Action Leeds is a five-year programme funded by The National Lottery Climate Action Fund. The programme aims to shape a ‘zero carbon, nature friendly, socially just Leeds by the 2030s’ through community-led climate action and networks of interest.

In partnership with Together for Peace, we launched Climate Action Leeds Community Grants, offering both small and micro grants to Leeds Community Organisations to deliver neighbourhood-based climate action projects. Projects will explore and develop ways to reduce carbon and promote nature-friendly activity.

In the third round of Microgrants, £4,500 was awarded to 3 Community Organisations in Leeds.

The organisations that were awarded funding are:

The funded activities are:

        • Delivering workshops and site visits to educate people on reducing carbon emissions, saving energy and protecting the natural environment; reusing produce, reducing waste and recycling; and using public transport.
        • An 8-week programme of sessions combining mindfulness skills, food growing, forest gardening and connection with the natural world.
        • Supporting Climate Action Hubs in Alwoodley and Seacroft to develop ‘Community Nature Recovery Plans’ specific to their areas.

In total, we’ve invested almost £55,000 through Climate Action Leeds Community Grants so far, supporting 18 community organisations in the city.
