Flint Family Fund 2024

12 March 2024

10 Community Organisations have received a share of £95,000 to support children’s health and wellbeing thanks to Flint Family Fund. The fund, a partnership between Leeds Community Foundation and the Flint family, invests in physical activity and extra-curricular skills-building activities to support young people’s health and wellbeing.

In January 2024, the following 10 Leeds organisations were awarded funding:

The funded activities include:

        • Delivering creative writing programmes with schools in Leeds serving disadvantaged young people, to improve social, emotional, and literacy skills, develop confidence, and provide young people with access to cultural and educational opportunities they would otherwise miss out on.
        • A weekly group for girls aged 8-11 from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, with free activities to build confidence, aspirations and wellbeing and support friendships.
        • An interactive drama project, creating a safe space to engage with and inspire young people aged 16-25 with lived experience of the care system, who are at risk of offending.
        • Supporting the core costs of an organisation that provides physiotherapy, stay and play, music and football sessions for children with additional needs, as well as family support sessions for parents and carers.
        • Delivering regular, non-traditional sports sessions, with the aim of keeping young people engaged in active lifestyles and improving mental and physical health.

These organisations join the 29 previously funded through the Flint Family Fund since 2020. So far, the programme has supported almost 1,800 people.
