Flint Family Fund provides opportunities for 12,500 young people
12 August 2025
Since 2020, the Flint Family Fund has been investing in Leeds community organisations to work with young people in their communities. Delivered in partnership with the Flint family, the fund addresses issues close to their hearts, like health and wellbeing, and the education and learning gap for young people from different backgrounds.
Lifetime impact of the fund
Founded in 2020, there have been 5 rounds of the Flint Family Fund so far. We’ve made 46 grants through the fund, investing almost £400,000 in Leeds community organisations to deliver life-changing work for young people. So far, more than 12,500 young people have been supported. Many of those young people report better physical and mental health and wellbeing, and an increase in their personal aspirations and goals.
Recent impact of the fund
The latest reports from Flint Family Fund grant holders demonstrate significant impact. Thanks to organisations’ work with young people, 1,131 have better physical health, 1,113 have grown in confidence and 785 have better social skills.
ThatName Woman
ThatName Woman used their grant from Flint Family Fund to work with young women and girls facing racial inequity. They ran workshops around self-esteem and confidence, as well as exercise and movement sessions. They also partnered with Freedom 4 Girls to provide sanitary packs and held a Menstrual Hygiene Day.

ThatName Woman shared the story of one of their project participants.
“When B joined ThatName Woman’s aspiring teens group she was shy and reserved. She often stayed quiet and avoided interaction due to her struggle to express herself fluently. When her friend, S, joined the sessions, her confidence began to grow.
With S’s encouragement, B started participating in group activities, including making TikTok videos and attending dance workshops. Her peers were amazed by her hidden talent as she confidently sang along to songs during sessions, often becoming the centre of attention and inspiration for the group. Their cheers and support further boosted her self-esteem.
This transformation extended to B’s home life, where her parents and sisters noticed her newfound energy and confidence. B’s journey culminated in her receiving an award during the International Day of the Girl Child celebration.”
What’s next for Flint Family Fund?
Many of the grants made in the latest round are ongoing, with community organisations continuing their work with children and young people. We look forward to sharing more about the impact of the programme when those grants progress.
We also hope to deliver a new round of Flint Family Fund before the end of the year.
