Building a fairer Leeds since 2005
For over 20 years, Leeds Community Foundation has been helping donors invest more than £72 million to benefit communities across our city and the wider region. Through flexible and responsive grant making, we enable and strengthen community organisations that are the backbone of our city, because when they thrive, so do our communities – and all of us benefit.
Addressing inequalities and creating opportunities
Informed by our knowledge of local needs, our grants programmes have life-changing outcomes. The grassroots organisations, projects and activities we fund help to improve people’s health and wellbeing, provide opportunities for learning and experiences, promote inclusion and so much more. By strengthening the city’s community organisations, we’re helping them to do more of what they do best. In 2024, organisations were able to leverage an additional £4.8m in funding, thanks to their Leeds Community Foundation grants.
Building strong communities through The Leeds Fund
2024 saw the legacy of our flagship programme, The Leeds Fund, reach new heights as we awarded our 350th grant. Strategic Grants helped organisations to become more resilient, with 94% saying the funding made them more sustainable, while Microgrants supported a wide range of grassroots groups and creative ideas. To date we’ve invested £2.8m and supported 23,300 people in our communities through The Leeds Fund.
