Jimbo’s Fund 2024

26 June 2024

£388,000 has been invested in 26 Community Organisations through the latest round of Jimbo’s Fund.

Jimbo’s Fund was set up in 2008 by a local businessman, Jimi Heselden, to make a difference for people in Leeds. The programme funds a broad range of projects and activities that support people in the city who are experiencing hardship. Sadly, Jimi passed away in 2010, but the programme continues to support local projects across Leeds, carrying on his legacy.

The organisations that were awarded funding are:

The funded activities include:

        • Telephone befriending and home visits to provide companionship, emotional support and assistance to people experiencing social isolation.
        • In person and remote financial capability and emergency debt advice.
        • Cookery skills training for community organisations delivering front line services.
        • A weekly club for girls aged 8-14, providing a positive alternative to being drawn info gangs, knife crime and sex work.
        • Peer-led mental wellbeing courses for women and femme-presenting non-binary people.
        • Cultural opportunities for older Irish people to reduce loneliness and social isolation and boost quality of life.
        • Employing a Women’s Outreach Worker to increase engagement with services for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
        • Empowering and enabling Autistic adults to explore, secure and progress within a range of educational, vocational and employment opportunities.

These grants add to the already incredible legacy of Jimbo’s Fund. Since 2008, the Fund has made almost 690 grants, investing nearly £15.4m in Leeds communities.
