Leeds Fund Micro Grants May 2022

8 July 2022

The Leeds Fund: Micro Grants programme funds locally-rooted projects that improve the lives of people in Leeds’ communities. Small grants of up to £500 are awarded to individual people and un-incorporated and un-constituted groups who have great ideas to make a difference in their areas.

The programme aims to nurture activity that is community-led, uses local resources and has a clear community benefit. It focuses on health and wellness, enriching experiences, safe and friendly communities and learning and skill building.

In the latest round in April 2022, 9 grants were made with a total value of £3,865. 5 individuals* and 4 organisations were awarded funding. The organisations that were awarded funding are:

        • 1st Beeston Brownies
        • Action For Seacroft
        • Friends of Horsforth Hall Park
        • Incredible Edible Morley

The funded activities include:

        • Setting up a scrap re-use arts and crafts project to redirect waste from landfill and encourage recycling.
        • Establishing a community garden in Horsforth Hall Park, for local residents to grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.
        • An exhibition of artwork, stories and photography exploring marginalised communities’ contributions to British society.

Since 2017, more than 100 Micro Grants have been given out, with a number of recipients going on to develop their project ideas and receive further funding from Leeds Community Foundation.

The Leeds Fund: Micro Grants programme opens for applications four times each year, in January, April, July and October. From July 2022, there will be two levels of Micro Grants funding available for organisations: Kickstart Grants and Development Grants. Please note that Grants to individuals are under review and are not available at this time.
