Local Care Direct Health and Wellbeing Fund 2023

20 September 2023

The legacy of the Covid-19 pandemic and the rising cost of living continue to affect people’s mental health. Grants from the Local Care Direct Health and Wellbeing Fund aim to support Community Organisations to deliver work that maintains and improves the mental health and wellbeing of local communities.

In 2023, we awarded 15 grants through the fund, making a significant investment across Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield.

The organisations that were awarded funding are:

The funded activities include:

        • Working with people who are feeling isolated and lonely to create a space to talk and engage in meaningful art-based activities together.
        • Opportunities for young people living with identified mental health challenges to connect with nature, work with others, learn new skills, build confidence and improve mental health and wellbeing.
        • Specialist services for men who have experienced sexual violence and/or childhood sexual abuse.
        • Creating and delivering a psycho education course for parents, that will increase awareness of the impact of past trauma on their mental health and capacity to build healthy relationships.

These projects will be delivered over the next 2 years, and we look forward to sharing information about the impact of the funding when activity concludes.
