Ford Campbell Freedman (FCF) is a full-service accountancy and advisory firm and Members of Leeds Community Foundation.

Lisa Calvert, Partner at FCF, speak with us about their involvement with Leeds Community Foundation and what drives their support.

  • What’s your involvement with Leeds Community Foundation?

FCF is a proud member of Leeds Community Foundation. We look forward to supporting them in more ways in the future too.

  • How key is social value to you as an individual and organisation?

With a legacy of supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs for over 80 years, social value and how people view and care about the area they live in are key to our core values within the firm. As a Leeds girl born and bred, local projects which help and develop local communities are especially important to me.

  • What community issues are important to you?

The community issues that are important to us as a firm and also to me personally include mental health and suicide, homelessness and social mobility.

  • Has the pandemic altered the way you view investment into communities?

Whilst the pandemic hasn’t altered my view of community investment, I feel it has highlighted the need for it even more than before. It has also widened the gap in social equality and has hit those most in need hardest. I feel it is the responsibility of those who can invest in their communities to do so.

  • What makes Leeds a unique city?

Leeds is a vibrant city bringing together many different cultures and ideas. With leading universities attracting fresh, young talent to the area, the city strives to keep these future leaders by providing them with everything they need whilst drawing on its strong heritage. The business sector of Leeds continues to benefit from this and this looks to continue with the level of investment in the area from both the government, with the new HMRC hub, as well as private investment for example Channel Four moving its headquarters to the area.

  • Have you got any advice for organisations who are looking to support Leeds Community Foundation?

Do it! Becoming a Member of Leeds Community Foundation really enables positive social change across Leeds and beyond, definitely sign up! Make the commitment in whatever way you can and make a difference to your city.

Leeds Community Foundation creates opportunities for all by working with partners to make a positive impact within communities across Leeds and Bradford.
