Our Supporters: West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce

We recently caught up with Liz Wood, Head of Membership at West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce about their support of Leeds Community Foundation.

How did you get involved with Leeds Community Foundation?

The West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce exists to support businesses in Leeds, Bradford, and York & North Yorkshire, so there’s a natural fit with our activities and a joint commitment to support communities across the region.

Why is it important to you to support local communities?

We want to make a positive difference across the local economy. Supporting local communities helps us to make our region an attractive place for people to live, work and study, which allows businesses to thrive as a result.

What do you love about Leeds?

As we have the largest Chamber footprint in the country, spanning most of Yorkshire, it would be unfair to have a favourite city! However, as the main economic centre of the Leeds City Region, Leeds is such a diverse and vibrant city, with world-class universities, state-of-the-art hospitals, and a thriving business environment. Not forgetting the city’s premier shopping centre, restaurants and bars!

What advice would you give to people who are thinking about supporting Leeds Community Foundation?

Do it! If you’re not sure about how to support, the kind of support you can offer, or how it aligns with your own values, the friendly team will guide you every step of the way. There are also great supporter networking events with interesting speakers and updates.
