The Stay Well this Winter Grants programme is funded by Leeds City Council Public Health. The programme supports community-based projects working with vulnerable people who are most at risk of becoming unwell over winter, due to cold and severe weather.
In 2022, Stay Well this Winter Grants invested more than £50,000 through 20 grants to Community Organisations in Leeds. The organisations that were awarded funding are:
The funded activities include:
-
-
-
- A ‘share the warmth’ campaign delivering pop-up awareness and engagement sessions to advise people how to stay warm, healthy and safe over winter.
- Providing cooking appliances such as cookers, microwaves, kettles and air fryers so people can cook hot meals at home.
- Wellbeing checks to support people to reduce fuel costs, alongside delivering winter warmer packs with blankets, hot water bottles, draft excluders, hand warmers, soups and hot chocolates.
- A drop-in ‘Cosy Chat and Winter Warmth’ group, providing a safe, warm haven for people to meet, socialise and get advice and information about health and financial support during winter.

At a time like now, when people’s budgets are stretched by soaring energy prices and the cost of living, support like this is more needed than ever. We hope the activities funded by these grants help people in Leeds to stay well over these colder months.
