Suicide Prevention Grants 2024

10 September 2024

£120,000 has been invested in 8 Leeds community organisations thanks to Suicide Prevention Grants, in partnership with Leeds City Council’s Public Health team.

The Suicide Prevention Grants programme funds activities that reduce social isolation and promote protective factors for wellbeing for people at risk of suicide.

The organisations that were awarded funding are:

        • Dad’s Hub CIC

The funded activities include:

        • One-to-one and group sessions to provide culturally appropriate, social, emotional mental health support for young autistic people who are transitioning into adulthood.
        • Wellbeing drop-in sessions for women who find it difficult to access statutory services, delivered by a trained counsellor and a caseworker, and a weekly peer support group.
        • A professionally facilitated peer support group for parents of trans children and adults, upskilling parents to support their children’s mental health needs, as well as counselling for parents who require individual support.
        • Co-producing carer specific suicide, and homicide-suicide, prevention training and resources with unpaid carers, to be rolled out to frontline third sector and health and social care professionals.

These 8 projects will build on the fantastic work already achieved through the Suicide Prevention Grants programme, which has supported more than 3,500 people since 2018.
