Suicide Prevention Grants 2025
10 September 2025

We’ve invested more than £100,000 in vital suicide prevention work in Leeds. 7 community organisations will receive a share of the funding thanks to Suicide Prevention Grants, delivered in partnership with Leeds City Council’s Public Health team.
The organisations will work with people at risk of suicide, informed by the Leeds Suicide Audit, Suicide Prevention Strategy and Leeds Suicide Action Plan. They’ll deliver activities that help to reduce social isolation and promote protective factors for wellbeing.

Funded activities
The organisations will deliver a range of activities tailored to support the people they work with. Through their work, they’ll support men, older people, young people, LGBTQIA+ people, refugees and asylum seekers, and people experiencing poverty and disadvantage. The funded activities include:
- A peer support worker offering flexible, 1:1 mental health support to young people, using a ‘Culturally Diverse Minds’ approach.
- Co-producing a 92-week programme of sessions and trips for men, where they can make social connections and build friendships.
- Setting up a collective leadership group for LGBTQIA+ adults who self-harm, where they decide the group’s direction, activities and topics.
The programme’s impact
Since the Suicide Prevention Grants programme began in 2018, we’ve awarded 45 grants totaling more than £722,000. Thanks to the funding, more than 4,000 people have taken part in activities that help reduce the risk of suicide. You can read more about the programme’s impact here.
