Suicide Prevention Grants 2026

10 September 2026

We’ve invested more than £150,000 in vital suicide prevention work in Leeds. 8 community organisations will receive a share of the funding thanks to Suicide Prevention Grants, delivered in partnership with Leeds City Council’s Public Health team.

The organisations will work with people at risk of suicide, informed by the Leeds Suicide Audit, Suicide Prevention Strategy and Leeds Suicide Action Plan. They’ll deliver activities that build social connection, foster hope and purpose, and promote protective factors for wellbeing.

Grant awards

Of the 8 grants made, 6 were large grants and 2 were small grants. The organisations that were awarded funding are:

Funded activities

The organisations will deliver a range of activities tailored to support the people they work with. Through their projects, they’ll work with a range of people including young men, women aged 40-65, autistic people, people with experience of homelessness, LGBTQIA+ people and refugees and asylum seekers. The funded activities include:

  • Sessions in schools exploring a variety of topics including ‘What is Masculinity?’, ‘Men and Emotions’ and ‘Healthy Relationships’.
  • Creating a triage-style support pathway, enabling people to access the right support at the right time, from a range of options.
  • An accessible, community-led programme of support, wellbeing and social activities, with hybrid and online options available.
  • A music-based community involvement project where people can both play music, and repair and recycle music equipment.

The programme’s impact

Since the Suicide Prevention Grants programme began in 2018, we’ve awarded 45 grants, adding up to nearly £875,000. Thanks to the funding, more than 4,750 people have taken part in activities that help reduce the risk of suicide.
