Supporting people through challenging times with Jimbo’s Fund
11 February 2026
In 2025, Leeds community organisations supported more than 7,000 local people thanks to grants from Jimbo’s Fund.
Jimbo’s Fund was set up in 2008 by Jimi Heselden, a local businessman, who wanted to make a difference for people in Leeds. Sadly, Jimi passed away in 2010, but Jimbo’s Fund continues his legacy, giving grants to Leeds community organisations to support people in the city to overcome adversity.
Throughout 2025, the 26 funded organisations used their grants to offer carers support groups, mindfulness training, financial and debt advice sessions, emergency food support and so much more.
Thanks to the activities, more than 5,500 people improved their health and wellbeing, and more than 3,300 people gained self-esteem and confidence.
Simon on the Streets used their grant to expand their support for women experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. They provided tailored 1:1 support for 18 women, which included emotional welfare checks and support with GP and employment appointments. Through their work, they helped 14 of the women to gain permanent housing.
Since 2008, we’ve given out over £19m in grants through Jimbo’s Fund. Those grants have supported more than 51,000 people to overcome adversity.
