The Leeds Fund Microgrants Winter 2023

21 April 2023

The Leeds Fund Microgrants programme funds locally rooted projects that improve the lives of people in Leeds’ communities. Small grants are awarded to groups that have great ideas to make a difference in their areas.

The programme aims to nurture activity that is community-led, uses local resources, and has a clear community benefit. It focuses on health and wellness, enriching experiences, safe and friendly communities and learning and skill building.

In the latest round in winter 2023, 2 grants were made with almost £5,000 invested. The organisations that were awarded funding are:

        • Harehills Lane Action Team
        • SHEnanigans (Armley)

The funded activities are:

        • 12 months of activity-based events for local women, mostly in Armley, with activities including archery, Bollywood dancing, life drawing and wild swimming.
        • Establishing ‘chatty cafes’ to help make Harehills somewhere people love socialising and visiting, where they can meet others, build community and reduce social isolation.

Since 2017, more than 120 Microgrants have been given out, with several recipients going on to develop their ideas and receive further funding from Leeds Community Foundation.

The Leeds Fund Microgrants programme opens for applications four times each year, in January, April, July and October.
