The Lord Mayor of Leeds chooses Leeds Community Foundation as Charity Partner

24 May 2024

We’re delighted that The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung has chosen Leeds Community Foundation as charity partner for her year in office. Our team were honoured to attend her inauguration dinner, and we look forward to working in partnership over the next year to make Leeds a fairer city for everyone.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung, said: “Each Lord Mayor chooses a Leeds-based charity to champion during their year in office. This year, it gives me great pleasure to be partnering with Leeds Community Foundation.

“I have chosen Leeds Community Foundation due to its wide-ranging support of small, local charities tackling critical societal inequalities such as food poverty, health inequalities, mental health, and digital inclusion. These are all causes close to my heart.

“As the first citizen of Leeds, I look forward to bringing the whole city together to raise awareness and funds for Leeds Community Foundation, through hosting events and activities culminating in the ‘Just One Day’ charity day. I hope I can count on everyone’s support.”

Steph Taylor, Chief Executive of Leeds Community Foundation said: “We’re honoured to be chosen as charity partner of the Lord Mayor. This is more than a partnership, it’s a shared vision to build a fairer future together. With the Lord Mayor’s support, we can amplify our reach, magnify our impact and inspire collective action.”
